Fairyloot November Unboxing: Royals and Rogues

I was so excited for November’s Fairyloot box, and it didn’t disappoint! Here’s a quick look at what I received in this month’s box (spoilers below the photo!):

+

+ Queen of Books mug from Read at Midnight

I’m so glad that there was a mug included in this month’s box, and I love the lettering on this one! This is an exclusive item to November’s Fairyloot box.

+ Royals & Rogues Tea from The Tea Leaf Company

So, I have a confession… I don’t actually like tea. Yes, I am British. Yes, I’m aware it makes me the worst Brit to ever exist. But anyway. Despite the fact that I won’t drink this, I love the packaging and I’m sure I can feed it to someone else on the rare occasions that I have guests round.

+ Calipha Pocket Mirror from Bookworm Boutique

I love The Wrath and the Dawn, and this Calipha mirror is so cute! I love the colours!

+ Queen of Terrasen Notepad from Alexis Lampley

The design on this mini notepad is so pretty, and I can’t wait to leave my husband notes lying around on pieces of paper with “Queen of Terrasen” in the header 😉

+ Scented Spectorium Soap Crystals from Crafty Ragamuffin

These soap crystals smell so good, and are named after an important item in the book featured in this month’s box!

+ Double-sided Red Queen Print from Lovely Owls Books & Book Otter, & Wolf by Wolf Print

I’m honestly not the biggest fan of Red Queen, but I think both sides of this print are gorgeous regardless and I’ll definitely be putting it up on my wall! The lettering side is by Lovely Owls Books, and the drawing of Mare is by Book Otter. I absolutely love the Wolf by Wolf print, as well!

+ A Court of Mist and Fury tote from Lovely Owls Books

I actually loved this quote from ACOMAF so much that I got Rhys’s mountains and stars tattooed on my arm, so this is basically the perfect tote for me. Aren’t the colours gorgeous, too?

+ Nemesis by Anna Banks & Extras

This month’s book is Nemesis by Anna Banks, and came with a bookplate signed by the author, a letter from her, a bookmark with info about the book and a little sketch of a parani, one of the creatures found in the book. I’ll be reviewing Nemesis once I’ve finished it!

love,

September Fairyloot Unboxing

Another month, another Fairyloot unboxing! September’s Fairyloot theme was “Magic and Mayhem” and when I found out it’d be quite a Russian fantasy based box, I knew that I had to have it. As always, spoilers are below the following photo, so if you’re still waiting for your box and want it to stay a surprise, look no further!

+ + +

So this month’s box had some absolutely amazing items! Obviously, with Russian fantasy, you’re going to expect the Grisha trilogy to make an appearance – and it did in a big way.

+ First off, Castle of Fables created three different candles for this box, based on the Grisha orders – Materialki, Etherealki, and Corporealki. I got the purple Materialki candle, which smells amazing!

+ Another Grisha based item was a notebook from The Literary Emporium – it features the three Grisha orders on the front of it.

+ The third item inspired by the Grisha Trilogy was a Second Army poster by GoodNightKittens!

+ The box included this gorgeous matryoshka doll necklace – it’s so cute and tiny, and fits really well with the book in this month’s box! The necklace was made by Pastel Clouds Jewellery.

+ Another exclusive item was this set of A Darker Shade of Magic badges by Book Otter. Also from Book Otter was a little Felix Felicis sticker!

Now, onto this month’s book – Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter! I’ve been wanting to read this book for a long time so was pleasantly surprised to find it in my Fairyloot box! Alongside the book was a letter from the author, a signed bookplate, a postcard featuring some of BY’s merchandise from the book, and also a Vassa in the Night bookmark from Behind the Pages!

Did you get this month’s Fairyloot box? What did you think of it?

Love,

August Fairyloot Unboxing

So it’s that time of the month again – time for the latest Fairyloot to be unboxed! I was so excited about this month’s box as the theme was dark deeds, and anyone knows me knows that I love villains just a little bit too much. As always, this post will contain basically all of the spoilers for this month’s box, so if you’re still waiting for your box and want the contents to be a surprise, don’t look below this photo!
Here’s what I received in August’s Fairyloot box:
The Dark Side Candle by Geeky Clean
Ok, so I could write a whole essay on how misunderstood Darth Vader is. Every time I watch any Star Wars film, I just have to point out that everything Vader did, he did for love. Yeah, Anakin was acting like a bit of a moody teenager in Revenge of the Sith, but he was still acting purely out of love! Anyway… This candle, strangely enough, has a very fruity smell – who knew that the dark side would smell so good?
Malfoy Quote Coaster by Book Otter
This coaster, with the infamous quote “you must be a Weasley” is an exclusive item in this Fairyloot box and I absolutely love it! Perfect for all Draco fans, like myself.
Rhysand Book Boyfriend Soap by Behind the Pages
I’ve been ogling these book boyfriend soaps since they were released, especially the Rhysand one, so I was so happy to receive one in this box! I haven’t used it yet, but it smells amazing inside it’s packaging.
Assassin Nail Art by House of Wonderland
These nail stickers are another exclusive item for this box, designed by the amazing House of Wonderland. I haven’t had a chance to use them yet as I can’t wear nail varnish for work (sob) but I’m looking forward to testing them out and having badass dagger-nails!
Animorphia Notebook by Michael O’Mara Books
I absolutely love this gorgeous notebook – it’s filled with all sorts of unique illustrations of animals and matches this month’s book so well! It’s also got lots of space for planning evil schemes, as the Fairyloot team pointed out.
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Nevernight bookmark, art print, letter from the author and signed bookplate
This month’s book was the absolutely beautiful Nevernight by Jay Kristoff! Both Angharad and I received this book in ARC form a few months ago, but since I gave it five stars and proclaimed it one of the best books I’ve read this year, I was really happy to receive a hardback copy of it, as well as the extra goodies that were included in this month’s box.

This is definitely one of my favourite Fairyloot boxes so far, and I’m really excited for September’s box! What did you think of it?
Love,

July Fairyloot Unboxing

Another month, another Fairyloot box and in my opinion, this months blew June’s out of the water (literally, because the theme was Pirates & Power!) Fairyloot is a UK-based book subscription box and each month contains a highly anticipated books and amazing bookish goodies. If you want to sign up, go here!
(It goes without saying but this post will contain spoilers so if you are still waiting for your box, we give you our full permission to click off this post.)

Here’s what we received this month:
+ A Pirate Bounty lip balm made by Geeky Clean.
This lip balm will transport you straight to a tropical island. It smells of delicious coconut and is totally clear so it will not add colour to your lips.
+ A colour-in bookmark from Behind the Pages.
If you’re a fan of colouring, you’ll love this bookmark that reads ‘Currently Reading.’ This is the first time these have been released and I’m so happy to have got my own. Neither of us use bookmarks but being able to colour it yourself is really tempting.
+ A bookish tote bag by Alice in Wonderbookland.
The perfect thing to carry your books in. With an illustration of a ship and the tag, ‘I Ship It,’ this fits perfectly with this month’s theme. It’s a cute little size and very minimalist. Will definitely stop me from breaking my backs carrying too many books!
+ Frostblood and Fireblood bath bomb from Geeky Clean.
As soon as I got this, I rushed to run myself a bath. Upon placing it in the water, colours burst everywhere. I felt like Daenerys Targaryen as I stepped in. These are amazing products – they left no stains on either my skin or my bath.
+ A Funko keychain.
Probably one of my favourite things in this box. We received the Daenerys Targaryen version but Jon Snow versions were sent out also seeing as they are the song of ice and fire! Which did you get?
+ An ARC copy of Frostblood by Elly Blake.
This book isn’t going to be released until 2017 but Fairyloot kindly sent out early copies – you will either receive the Fire or Frost cover. We both got Fire which fits us perfectly. We will post a full review of this book when we’ve both finished it.
+ A Treasure Island notebook by Museums & Galleries.
This beautiful gold foil notebook is the perfect notebook that you can fill with your adventures. It’s the perfect size and even looks like the book itself by the cover.
The main book we received this month is a tale of folklore and pirates. It seems like the perfect new fantasy novel and we’re excited to get into it. We also got a personalised letter and postcard from the author and each book is signed and dedicated. Definitely a book we will treasure (no pun intended.)
+
Next month’s theme is ‘Dark Deeds’ and is perfect for those who love an antihero. Becky has ordered this box so look forward to another unboxing in August.
Love,

June Fairyloot Unboxing

This month, we both decided to order our first book subscription box. After looking around at our options, we opted for the Fairyloot box – the contents of the boxes are always well thought out, unique and fit with the theme, the packaging is beautiful, and they’re UK based!

{by the way – this post will contain spoilers and photos of the contents of the June Fairyloot box. If you’re still waiting for your box and want it to be a surprise, look away now!}

Both of our Fairyloot boxes arrived at the beginning of the week, and we were so happy with what we received! This months theme was “Classic Twist”, and although classics aren’t our favourite books, the items we received in this box were still neutral enough for us to love them.
Here’s what we got in the box:

+ Funko POP! Vinyl from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

The first item was a full sized Funko from the recent film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith. We haven’t read the book/watched the film, but these funko’s still look pretty badass on a bookshelf.
+

+ Brontë’s Secret candle from William and Joseph

This candle was absolutely perfect for this box – it has a really nice floral scent, and is so cute and quaint that it really fits with the theme!

+

+ Earrings from House of Wonderland

These earrings are absolutely adorable! Fairyloot boxes often seem to include a gorgeous piece of jewellery from an independent or boutique store, and these swallow earrings from House of Wonderland are no exception.

+

+ Pack of three bookmarks from Fable and Black

We aren’t really users of bookmarks – I’m actually pretty sure that we’ll use anything but a bookmark to hold a page in a book. However, these three bookmarks with bookish quotes are too perfect not to use! They all feature some well known book-related quotes, whilst still linking back to the classic twist theme.

+

+ Pride and Prejudice print from Fairyloot

Fairyloot’s own contribution to their box was this beautiful watercolour style print, featuring a well known quote from Pride and Prejudice. We absolutely love book inspired artwork, so this was perfect for us!

+

+ Wristband from Chapter 5

A little extra gift included in this month’s Fairyloot box was a wristband from Chapter 5. It’s a festival style fabric wristband reading “proud to be bookish”, a statement that we can both definitely get behind!

+

+ Ivory and Bone by Julie Eshbaugh

Of course, the main feature of any book subscription box is the book itself! This month we got Ivory and Bone by Julie Eshbaugh. This book has been described as having allusions to Pride and Prejudice, but set in prehistoric times. We’ll be putting up a full review of it once we’ve both read it!

Alongside the book, we also received a promotional bookmark, postcard, a signed bookplate and a signed letter from the author.

+
That’s it for this month’s Fairyloot box! We’ve also both ordered the July box, Pirates and Power, so keep an eye out for our unboxing of that next month!
