Something that I’ve made an autumnal tradition for myself and Jordan over the past few years is to take a trip to a pumpkin patch – partly so I can take photos, obviously, and partly to get some pumpkins for soup (that’s Jordan’s job). I thought today would be the perfect day to share some photos from this years trip!
We usually visit Farmer Copley’s in Pontefract, about 40 minutes away from our house, which holds a huge pumpkin festival on the weekends in October and October half term. Usually I’ve had no problem visiting on a non festival day (which is a lot quieter) however this year they started charging entry and I couldn’t seem to get a straight answer off them as to whether I could come on a day that wasn’t a ticketed weekend day – after all, I’m here for the pumpkins, not the face painting and fairground activities they put on! Instead, we decided to visit Eastfields Farm in Tickhill, as it’s a lot closer to home and we figured it’d be a lot quieter.
I’m really glad we decided to switch up where we visited this year – we went on a Monday morning during school time, and only saw one other group of people there on the other side of the field, making it a lot easier for me to shoot some bookish photos!

Not only is pumpkin picking a great day out if you just love to take photos of all things orange and autumnal, like me – it’s fun for all the family and generally a very cheap day out too. Entrance to Eastfields Farm was free, and pumpkin prices ranged from about £1 to £5. We bought one good sized pumpkin (enough to make about five portions of soup, anyway) and it only cost us £2. Overall, a very cheap day out!
Going pumpkin picking definitely seems to have become a more popular activity over the past few years and there are patches right across the country! We’re lucky enough to have a few close by to choose from – I believe that Eastfields Farm also does strawberry and raspberry picking in summer, so I’ll definitely be coming back then!

I’d definitely recommend pumpkin picking as an autumnal activity and I’m so excited to go next year with a baby! I’m already planning the wheelbarrow photos…
love,
Becky
