A bit of a different, non-bookish post today but this was one I wanted to do as part of Blogtober. Years ago when I ran a personal blog (that I never really shared anywhere) I used to love shooting OOTD posts – even though I’m not sure how good I was at them! Since being pregnant I’ve struggled with sticking to my style and finding clothes that fit me, are comfy, and aren’t too expensive at the same time, so I wanted to share some of my current go to outfits for autumn that do meet these requirements. Most of the clothes I’m wearing aren’t maternity branded clothes – just things I bought or already had that are oversized enough for me to still wear – and the couple of maternity clothes I have worn, I’ve also shared links to non-maternity versions of. Basically my aim with these outfits was to make them adaptable and accessible to as many people as I could!
I’m all about layering at the moment, and having to mostly wear the same pair of maternity jeans and maternity leggings over and over, I wanted to find something different that I could pair up with some long sleeved tops or jumpers but was still loose enough to be comfy and easily layered. When I spotted this dress in New Look, I knew it was just what I’d been after – the colours are perfect for autumn and I love the midi length of the skirt. Although it can definitely be worn all year round, I think it’s perfect for wearing over a roll neck jumper or top, a pair of fishnet tights and some boots. This outfit literally epitomises my go to style in autumn when I want to be a bit less casual but still comfortable, and I love the modern witchy vibes it gives off.
I recently won a $75 gift card from Lauren’s Instagram giveaway for maternity clothing site Pink Blush. I decided to pick out a dress for my baby shower, and a dress that was my style and could be worn into autumn and winter as I got bigger. I love anything with stripes and a skater dress has always been my go to, so this dress was absolutely perfect! I’m all about clashing patterns at this time of year and thought this mustard scarf went perfectly with the dress.
My actual go to outfit for the past couple of years! I picked up this jumper in Primark the winter before last and it’s honestly the comfiest thing I own. It’s a very thick cable knit with a big roll neck, plus it’s very long for its size (in the sleeves too) so it’s guaranteed to keep me warm. I love how it’s such a cosy jumper but can easily be dressed up to be worn out for a coffee date or similar just by pairing it with some jeans, the right boots and a leather jacket. It’s definitely a staple for me this year as I’m opting for comfort over anything else whilst I can’t fit in to most of my clothes!
What are your go to autumnal outfits? I’d love to see some recommendations and to know what you guys thought of this post!
