1. Hot Chocolate – what is your comfort book?
A: Surprising absolutely nobody here am I? The Book Thief. I’m sorry.
B: Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente is my go to whenever I need a familiar book, I’m stuck in a slump, or just when it’s been too long since I last re-read it!
2. Pumpkin Carving – what is your favourite creative outlet?
A: I’d love to be able to do art but I’ve got more chance of being bitten by a giraffe so I’ll go for gaming and bullet journalling.
B: Aside from blogging, it has to be photography, and I love bullet journalling when I can find the time to as well!
3. Falling Leaves – changes that appear bad but you secretly love?
A: Hmm, this one is quite generic but sticking with the theme, I’d say changes in the weather in autumn months. I love the cold!
B: I’m not a fan of change at all so this is a hard one!
4. Pumpkin Spiced Latte – something you love that others tend to judge
A: I’d have to go for gaming. I think it can be viewed as violent (don’t get me started) and a waste of time. However, after gaming since I was little, I know it’s good for me, it’s taught me things both educational and life altering and most importantly, it’s fun.
B: I’ve gone a bit off Jenn’s answer here and am saying something musical – I’ve always loved My Chemical Romance (I have to clarify here for any fellow fans – I Brought You My Bullets, Three Cheers, and The Black Parade only) but was always known as being the class emo for it in school. I still love them despite them being broken up (lets not mention that though), and I still don’t care at how many people probably think it’s funny.
5. Bonfire Night – what makes you explode with joy?
A: my dogs. always.
B: Is it cliche to say reading a great fantasy book? Also, cuddling my guinea pig and exploring new natural places.
6. Fright Night – favourite scary book or film
A: I don’t watch many movies, never mind horror but I’d say A Quiet Place for movie and The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell for a book!
B: I think people always assume I’m a big horror fan but I scare so easily and am definitely more into thrillers than traditional horror. My favourite thriller film is probably The Silence of the Lambs, and book would be Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.
7. Halloween Candy – favourite thing to eat
A: Autumn based, I’d have to say toffee apples! RIP to my teeth though.
B: I don’t think we want to talk about my favourite things to eat right now because I am having the weirdest cravings and really am eating for probably more than two. However, despite it being cold, ice cream remains my favourite of the sweet cravings to hit. I suppose more autumn appropriate answer would be butternut squash soup (trust me on this and make it with carrots, sweet potato and a slightly spicy veg stock too).
8. Scarves – your autumn ‘must have’ accessory
A: A dressing gown to put on as soon as I get out of bed. But for clothes, anything burnt orange coloured!
B: An oversized blanket scarf (preferably mustard coloured in some way) and a (fake) leather jacket.
9. Fire – a book or film that burns your soul
A: The Book Thief, The Song of Achilles, The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, A Little Life, Six of Crows duology and so on.
B: I mean it’s literally always an answer for me in any tag now but I’m gonna have to say Other Words For Smoke.
10. Toffee Apples – a book or film that seems one thing but really is different inside
A: For an underrated answer, I’ll choose Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. It’s marketed as just another dystopian novel but it’s so much more.
B: Of my recent reads, I’m going to say The Deathless Girls. I definitely expected it to be a lot scarier but it was more of an origin/backstory leading up to the more horror themed events.
