Hi guys!
So after being in a bit of a reading slump for the past few months, I thought I’d take a minute to organise my summer TBR to hopefully help myself get back on track. Not only are there a lot of amazing books coming out this summer, but I’ve bought so many during the start of this year that I still need to read!
Backlist TBR:
Sadie by Courtney Summers
I’ve heard so much about this book and I know it’ll be right up my street so I can’t wait to pick it up over summer!
Slayer by Kiersten White
After recently watching the entirety of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and loving it (I know I’m 15 years late, but here we are) I’m really excited to pick up Slayer and stay in the Buffy-verse a bit longer. I’ve loved Kiersten’s previous books so I’m looking forward to this.
The Kingdom of Copper by S. A. Chakraborty
The City of Brass was one of my favourite books of last year, and I think the only reason I haven’t started it’s sequel yet is because I’ve just not been feeling up to reading big books recently. I’m hoping to start this soon and delve back into Daevabad!
The Queen’s Resistance by Rebecca Ross
Another sequel to a book I loved last year – The Queen’s Rising stuck with me for a long time and again, I think the only reason I haven’t got around to reading the sequel yet is due to my slump and feeling daunted by big fantasy novels. This is definitely on my immediate TBR for the summer.
Summer Releases TBR:
These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling (28th May)
I’ve been excited for this book for a while now, and can’t wait to read a queer contemporary witchy story. I feel like it’ll be the perfect book to get me out of my slump!
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson (4th June)
Who isn’t excited for the next book to be released by the author of the gorgeous An Enchantment of Ravens? This is another book that’s definitely high on my TBR – sorcery, old libraries and badass girls? Yes!
Wilder Girls by Rory Power (9th July)
I’ve seen this book described as a feminist horror and I’ve definitely been getting more into horror recently. Wilder Girls has been on my radar for a long time and I’ve seen so many good things about it on Twitter – I can’t wait to finally be able to read it this summer.
All The Bad Apples by Moïra Fowley-Doyle (27th August)
Witchy Irish twin books have definitely been a mood this year, what with the releases of Other Words for Smoke and upcoming release of Perfectly Preventable Deaths. All The Bad Apples is the final in the trifecta and I’m so excited for a spooky family curse novel. Plus, look at that cover!
Re-Reads:
Other Words for Smoke by Sarah Maria Griffin
So there are a few reasons why I’m planning on rereading OWFS. Firstly, I’ve sent it round as a travelling book project to be annotated, so plan on rereading and adding my own annotations once it makes its way back to me. Second, I wanted to re-tab one of my other copies. Third, I can’t get the story out of my head!
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
So I’ve only ever read the ARC of Priory, and now that I have the finished copy I’m excited to re-read that and try and spot any differences, as I’ve heard there are quite a few. Besides that, I loved this book and definitely would’ve read it again sooner if I’d had the time.
What summer releases are you looking forward to? Let me know any recommendations!
love,
Becky

There are so many fab books included here Bec! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Sadie, I would definitely recommend listening to the audiobook – it’s told by a full character cast and also has the podcast element. I’m also really looking forward to Sorcery of Thorns, I can’t wait!
